We are building our celebrity speaker team– and we’d be delighted to hear from you.
If you would like to discuss possible representation, please first read our article in the left column of this page, called “Do You Need a Speakers’ Agent?” Then, if you think you are ready and meet the minimum requirements, please contact us by phone or simply complete our Contact Us form, under Representation Services and submit.
We’ll be in touch with you just as soon as possible.
New Leaf personal coaching with CEO Amy Gray is available in person or via phone to a small number of speaker clients. If you feel ‘stuck’ in your speaking career, or just need some good ideas and encouragement to take your speaking career to the next level, coaching would be a great way to jump start your progress. The rate is $200 per hour, with a complimentary 15-20 min introductory conversation to go over your unique situation and determine if there is a mutual ‘fit.’
We are currently accepting inquiries for representation from speakers who have:
1) A nationally recognizable name in the United States in his/her core area(s) of expertise– this ‘litmus’ test has to be investigated directly by New Leaf because the temptation is to automatically answer ‘Yes! I am!’ to this question– it’s a difficult task, but all parties need to be completely objective.
2) Published a book on their core speaking topic within the past five (5) years with a major publishing house within the United States.
3) A prominent media presence within the United States as an expert on their core area(s) of expertise. As such, they are often ‘in the news’ on TV, radio, in newspapers, magazines and on-line portals.
4) An average, verifiable speaker fee of $10,000 USD or higher
5) Delivered at least three (3)presentations for that amount within the past year, in the United States
6) A strong, in-bound inquiry stream regarding public appearances– typically receiving more than ten (10) proactive inquiries from prospective hosts within the United States each month.
7) A solid track record of working with speaker bureaus in the United States with a minimum of four (4) speaking engagements booked via a US speaker bureau in the past two (2)years.
Speakers’ agents work in tandem with bureaus, representing the best interests of the speaker and acting as the main point of contact between the speaker and the bureau. The bureau typically represents the best interests of its clients (the actual hosts of the event). The agent works on behalf of the speaker to ensure that he/she is being treated fairly and that the fees negotiated are clear and fair. The agent also ensures that the interactions with the bureau and the hosting organization are done in accordance with the standards in place by the International Association of Speakers Bureaus.
New speakers:
We sincerely applaud your efforts to become a professional speaker and have created a tip sheet, located in the column to the left, on getting started in the speaking business. This advice is crafted from our experience in the events business over the past decade. We feel confident that if you follow the advice it contains, we’ll be working together on your career before you know it!
Once you’ve reached the level of success above, or are within ‘shouting’ distance of it, we’d truly love to hear from you. Good luck to you, and thank you for your interest in New Leaf.
